WHAT DOES "SEQUENCING" HAVE TO DO WITH IT? (Giveaway!!)

THIS GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED
CONGRATULATIONS Cassie Young!!
You Won The Free Homeschooling 101 Blog Giveaway!

----------------------

Sequencing gives a person the ability to put together patterns purposefully. It is an important skill not ONLY for reading but for understanding what has been read.If children can put a series of sequences together, they can begin to process the task of reading.

In order to read a person must first register a letter shape, then the sound that corresponds with that shape.  After that is accomplished, another letter must be recognized, sounded out and so on.

When all of that mental agility has taken place, the letters must then be blended together in order to interpret a word and even more sequencing is needed to comprehend what the word means.

Without sequencing, a person cannot read...at all.

Some children find it difficult to sequence life around them. To listen as a book is read is extremely annoying to some children because they cannot process the ideals floating through the air to their ears. Their mind hasn't yet learned to sequence the words into a cohesive story. Add to that the complex language development needed to understand shapes and sounds and they've got themselves quite the pickle to decipher.

Children ages 5 and up need practice with sequencing so they can better comprehend written and oral instructions. THAT'S where HearBuilder Sequencing at  "The Webber Beach Funhouse" can help!

HearBuilder Sequencing features 120 illustrated sequences for targeting comprehension and critical thinking. The program begins by placing two-step sequences in order. As it progresses, players are given more challenging levels until they reach the highest level consisting of six-step sequences.

HearBuilder Sequencing holds children’s interest by wrapping the program in an entertaining carnival atmosphere. The colorful Fun House and game-like feel holds a player's interest. As they earn virtual tokens they anticipate the fun that will be had, spending them, at the challenging Arcade!

Thomas Webber, Chairman/CEO of Super Duper Publications explains, “We find that educator’s using HearBuilder Sequencing are able to use it not only for young children, but also older ones who struggle with understanding basic sequencing concepts...With our home edition, we provide parents with a solid tool for helping their children gain critical skills that will make them better students.”

Two of my children have processing delays.
I have allowed them to use this Software over the past few weeks.  Both of them enjoyed the Carnival Atmosphere and being allowed to "play on the computer."

Our son asked to play the "game" over and over.  He is recognizing sequences and already showing progress in school.  I've noticed an improvement in his grades, his reading ability and his handwriting...I don't know why his handwriting is better, but there you have it.  I can't wait to talk with his teacher about his progress and let her know what we've been doing at home to help him with his comprehension abilities.

Our daughter is a "young" 6 year old.  She is grappling with the basics, yet enjoying the journey. She has a long way to go to "get it" though.   It is interesting, however, to see that she enjoys watching our son play the game.  She sits beside him as he plays, soaking up his game moves so that she is better able to understand the concepts.  It is an enjoyable perk that this system is set up in such a way that siblings will want to watch each other do the work...learning all the while.  It's a win-win situation.

I would love to win this so that I could give it to a HSIng friend whose son has SN and really needs to work on processing and sequencing.

My children are older now but, as a website owner of a local support group, I like to keep up to date with new resources.

I love these sharings and such giveaways. Pity that I am based in SG. It would be good if you can open this to your international readers as well and we can pay for postage on our own?

In Singapore, the homeschooling community is quite small and hence, materials may be quite limited so thank God for such sharings and blogsites where I can read up and learn. :)

Thank you for a cool contest. My nine year old homeschooling daughter excels in all of the subjects with the exception of spelling. She was diagnosed hard of hearing and now wears aids. This has helped exponentially with her spelling as she can now hear consonants. This looks like a great program for her and her younger sister who we are now introducing to reading.
