Just wanted to thank you for the fantastic Crochet Kit! My tween immediately got started with it. He had some trouble (has some fine motor coordination issues), but it was easy enough to pause the video or reverse it a bit so he could catch on. My teen initially rolled her eyes at me, but after a few minutes asked if I could find an extra hook and some yarn for her, as well!

my 7 yr old son wants to knit a beanie for his Tata(grandma).He's using his saved 10c/20c coins to buy wool yarns to do it.But mum doesn't know "How to?", so this would be ideal! Thanks for posting & sharing your ideas, exploits & wisdom with us! From one frugal(but wise) mum to another!

I read about a troubled boys home teaching these skills. When the boys crochet or knit, they had no anger problems! My nephew had been on medication for autism all his life and at age 18 he decided to stop, in spite of intense pressure not to....they said he would become violent. He did not become violent but he did teach himself how to knit! He would try to learn for hours at a time with nothing to show for it but he just kept at it! He's 20 now and he knits and also crochets every day! He is the official hat maker for the whole family! He even makes sweaters now! Handwork is a great thing to do while relaxing with friends. My four homeschoolers were inspired by my nephew and they all learned to crochet, two of whom are teen boys! But they haven't learned to knit yet...maybe we'll win and we will ALL learn to knit! Then when I am visiting with my handwork friends, I can knit too!

I love this idea. I started trying to teach all of my kids how to crochet a few years ago. Unfortunately, I didn't know how to teach it, and they never really caught on. These videos are a fantastic idea, but even better is the whole concept of teaching this first. I love going back to the basics. I think our ancestors had it right in so many ways. I can't wait to try this with my children again (with the help of the video)! This is encouraging!
